MUNICIPAL COURTS
The Municipal Courts in New Jersey have responsibility for motor vehicle and parking ticket violations, minor criminal-type offenses such as simple assault and bad checks, and municipal ordinance offenses such as building code violations.
When you agree to pay a fine in Municipal Court without challenging a traffic ticket or summons, you are pleading guilty and possibly exposing yourself to future consequences, including increased insurance premiums, license points, surcharges through the Motor Vehicle Services Commission and even future license suspension. It is important to know your rights and options.
